ERIS 3 (2007-2008)

ERIS 3 is the third generation of the high performance, competition wing. The target was to create a unique wing with excellent handling, reasonable safety margin and still, pure competition spirit. We aimed to improve the trim speed, speed using the speed system, glide ration and still improve the efficiency in thermals and safety in the rough air as we strongly believe that the comfort of the safe wing to trust in any conditions is very important for the success of the competition pilot.

The main distinctive features are:

  • Stability
  • Very agile and efficient in thermals
  • Distinctive “SKY handling”
  • Glide, speed, high speed with speed system with lower sink and high safety in rough airs
  • Weight – one of the lightest wings in the market

The main changes compared to the second generation of the glider:

  • Different, high performance profile and speed range
  • New layout and basic geometry
  • Higher speed with lower sink rate
  • Glide ratio improved by 0,33 in trim speed and higher improvement of the glide in full speed
  •  High efficiency when using the speed system
  • More stability at full speed

ERIS 3 is the glider of the SKY competition team. Ren

Materials

Materials:

Canopy

The French company “Porcher Marine”, which is part of the NVC GROUP, supplies the glider fabric. In the last two years Porcher Marine have been heavily involved in fabric development; creating new and more durable coatings which has led to a new generation of materials that came to be known as New Skytex.

The new coating is much more resistant to abrasion, humidity and is UV resistance.

We use Skytex 9017 and coating E77A (bilateral water base coating that impregnates the fibres, rather than just the surface) for the top surface. The under surface of the wing is made from the same fabric with an E38A coating. The internal ribs are made from Skytex 9017 and the E29A coating.

The fabric is manufactured using the “Rip Stop” weave structure, out of superpolyamid (PA 6.6) by the American firm DU PONT.

Line scheme

The lines on the ERIS 3 are of the highest quality and are supplied by the German firm EDELRID. These lines create high resistance from mechanical abrasion as well as a high degree of length stability.

For the upper cascade we used thin lines ELDERID 7000. The lower lines are manufactured out of PPSL 120 a 200 (Liros) and main brake line are from EDELRID 7850–200.

Risers

The risers are made from 20 mm wide webbing, it is manufactured by our supplier MOUKA TIŠNOV. The suspension lines are connected to the risers by means of quick links (mailons); which come from the French supplier Mailon Rapide.

In 2007 Sky Paragliders company was certified as a 100% SKYTEX partner for Porcher Marine fabrics. That allows us to use the latest development benefits and share them with all our pilots. Also the certification ensures that the whole glider is made of the same material and that SKY PARAGLIDERS do not combine the best available quality of Porcher with any other materials available in the market.
